Why not get in touch?
Why not get in touch?
If you’re a bride to be and you’re getting married really soon, chances are, when you tell people, they raise their eyebrows and look at you with alarm. You might have had an experience in a bridal shop where you find yourself classified as an “emergency bride”. It’s not the most zen-inducing place to be.
We don’t think last minute weddings need to be a panicked frenzy, but to help you to be prepared on what you want from your wedding dress, here are our top 5 tips:
Take a Saturday and book yourself a load of appointments at bridal shops. Try on dresses you wouldn’t dream of wearing on your big day. Try on loads. Exhaust yourself doing it and be brutal, if it isn’t right, don’t even do up the buttons, zip or laces. Have fun, take friends, laugh a lot! You might find the one you fall in love with and you’re told you can have it in time and in budget – if so, you may never meet the Leeds Bridal team and you’ll have the wedding dress of your dreams. If not, we’d love to help. Once you’ve tried on a load, gone nuts on Pinterest and dreamed up your ultimate dress, that’s where we come in to make it a reality. We let you talk, whilst we draw. Here’s an idea that came from a description, that made its way to paper:
2. Get Your Wedding Underwear ASAP
For most brides, it’s the last thing on the list. To make sure your dress fits perfectly, we ideally want it from you as soon as we take your measurements – it means we can cut the pattern to your body size, and factor in the shape of your bra too! Bring it with you to your consultation if you can, or at the first fitting if you’re not quite that organised.
3. Prioritise Shoes
Just as wedding underwear tends to be low on the list of priorities, shoes do too. Your shoes hugely affect the final look of your dress so we’re always keen for brides to have them sorted as soon as possible. The height and style of the shoe makes a big difference to the length of the train, hem and overall impression. We see the same shoes regularly, our absolute faves (that Brides tell us are super-comfortable too!) are from Kurt Geiger – we love how they cater for extreme ends of the spectrum, from comfy but glam wedges, to super skyscraper heels for those who want to tower above the crowd (after all, it’s their wedding!)
4. Be Honest
Let’s say you’re getting married in 8 weeks. You want to lose 2 stone in that time. It’s a completely possible thing to do (we know, we’ve seen it done!). Losing or gaining weight are the two variables that can affect the end result of your dress – if you’re planning on losing or gaining weight, it’s best to be honest and we can make sure that last minute alterations are avoided so that you can have a serene run-up to your last minute wedding.
A wedding, no matter how big, can be organised quickly. Venues can be booked up but there will always be somewhere perfect available, dresses can be turned around in a month if necessary, favours can be made in the middle of the night with a bottle of wine on the go and a Friends marathon playing in the background. Some of the most special dresses we’ve created have been created at short notice. Just remember to relax, take it all in your stride and laugh your way through it.
If you’re getting married at short notice and you’re looking for a dress, we’d love to hear from you.

Wedding wishing wells have become increasingly popular over the last few years in place of a wedding gift list and we’ve been inspired by this amazing upcycled wedding post box done in wedding colours.
