Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the process of having a bespoke wedding dress made just for me?

You can read a detailed description of the process involved on ‘The Process‘ page. Needless to say, we make sure that you get the custom wedding dress of your dreams.

Can you combine two or more dresses?

We will work with you to take as many ideas as you have and work them into your final wedding dress. We will be able help you shape what is realistic and also what also won’t work in reality – all the time ensuring that you are fully informed. We often hear brides who say “I like the top of one dress and the bottom of another” and ask for them to be incorporated – we’re used to doing that!

What are the typical costs of the wedding dresses you make?

It really depends on what you want in your dream wedding dress, whether you want silk, lace or a heavily detailed finish. You’re not just investing in your finished dress but also in the design, pattern making and dressmaking. The bespoke wedding dress we make for you has never been made before and will never be made again. We keep the costs to a minimum but not having expensive overheads such as a shop and can pass on these savings to you. Get in touch for a no obligation consultation and quote.

Cost of Alterations

We offer two fittings as part of our bespoke wedding dress design process, at the first fitting any alterations will be made so that it fits perfectly at second fitting. Anything over and above this is a chargeable extra, but will be fully discussed with you so you know exactly what it will cover and how much it will cost.

I’ve found a fabric I love can you get it for me?

The chances are, absolutely. We already have an established network of suppliers and the more information you can give us the better, but if it is a realistic material to make a wedding dress from, we should be able to provide it, or something very similar.

What happens if I change my mind halfway through?

We go to great lengths to ensure you are happy with your design before we start making it, after all it is cheaper to change something on paper than after we start stitching. Minor changes can usually be accommodated (but it is on a case by case basis). Wholesale changes will mean that there will be additional costs, all of which will be clearly communicated so you know what to expect.

Is the first consultation free?

Absolutely – the first phone and face to face consultations are free. Once we’ve had the initial consultation with you, we can provide you with a no-obligation quote.

Do you stock off the rack or designer wedding dresses?

No, we believe that you can have a wedding dress that is made from scratch just for you at off the rack prices. That said, if there are elements and ideas from dresses that you have seen elsewhere (or dreamt up!) we can work hard to incorporate these into your own design.

Do you have a shop we can come into?

In order to keep costs low and to pass that saving onto you we don’t operate an all singing, all dancing wedding dress shop. Our seamstresses work from a dedicated workspace in Leeds. To complete your consultations and fittings you can meet our seamstress and manager face to face in Leeds at our workspace.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes please. This is just so we can have everything ready so that we can make the most use of the time we have with you to ensure your dress is perfect for the big day.

Is there a fee for my initial appointment?

Absolutely not, you need to meet us and we need to get to know you and what you want. Our initial appointment is free and is an important knowledge sharing session. You don’t pay us a penny until you confirm you want us to make a wedding dress for you.

How does payment work?

The first face-to-face consultation is free, we’ll measure you up, get some initial ideas sketched out and you’ll receive a quote for your dress. After that, as soon our designer starts putting an outline on paper we take a non-refundable deposit to cover the time and any materials upfront. We take a second instalment at first fitting and the final payment is due on delivery/collection of your wedding dress.

Currently, we accept Cash, Cheque or BACS payments.

Can I meet you at any wedding fairs?

We attend most wedding fairs in Yorkshire so absolutely. Drop us a line to let us know when and where you are attending and if we are going we’ll organise to buy you a coffee/tea over a chat.

Where will we have our fittings/meetings?

We are proud of the fact we keep costs low by cutting back on overheads such as shop space. As such fitting general happen at our own home where you can expect a warm welcome and we can ensure we have everything to hand we may need. We can sometimes accommodate fittings at your home if you would prefer, but it is dependent on if travel arrangements and the space is suitable for the fitting.

I can only do late nights or weekend appointments?

We feel your pain – we can accommodate an appointment that works for you and means that you don’t need to miss any work.

What area do you cover?

Anywhere within 40 miles of Leeds City Centre. If you live outside of this catchment zone we can still make a dress for you if you’re happy to travel to us. If travel is tricky, the initial consultations will either be over the phone/video conferencing and face to face visits will incur additional travel expenses at cost (agreed beforehand).

What is the difference is quality between your dresses and ones from China?

Ours are made by a seamstress with over 30 years’ experience in making wedding dresses. She doesn’t rush her work as it is about quality, not quantity and we won’t show it to you unless we are 100% happy that it meets our strict quality standards. The fabrics we use are of the highest standard only and the craftsmanship in hand making a wedding dress just for you just can’t be replicated.

Can you cater for weddings abroad?

Absolutely, we can make a dress for any climate or environment. In fact you can read all about the dress we made for Neena, one of our brides who got married abroad. Have a chat with us and we’ll help deliver something that works for you.

I don’t know what wedding dress I want, can you help?

Not every bride has the perfect dress in mind and we can absolutely help you. We’ll work with you to determine out your style likes and dislikes as well as the best dress that will work with your body type.

Can you make all my bridesmaid dresses / mother of the bride dress too?

Whilst we’d love to help, we’re simply all about the bride. Since we create all dresses from the initial sketch right through to the last stitch we feel it is important to focus on you as the bride, it is after all your big day, and we want to ensure our focus is entirely on delivering the best wedding dress possible for you.
